Epimedium sagittatum 'Warlord'

Epimedium sagittatum 'Warlord'.

Distribution  - China. Guanxi, Guizhou, Gwangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui and Hubei Provinces

Description –   A medium to large growing evergreen species, producing small flowers, but in some forms they make up for a poor floral display with good foliage.

The botanical species name refers to the leaf shape resembling an arrow head. This species amongst others has been heavily collected from the wild for traditional herbal medicine.

The rhizomes are of the compact type making it a clumping species.

Probably the named cultivar ‘Warlord’ is the most likely to become a successful seller as the young leaves are very well coloured and it is a catchy name..
