Distribution - China, Sichuan province.
Description – A medium growing evergreen species related to and looking quite similar to E. membranaceum. The main difference is the rhizome type. This species has long searching rhizomes, whereas those of E. membranaceum are shorter. Its botanical name refers to this.
The flower is of yellow hanging spider like type and to some extent it can have longer than average flowering season like E. membranaceum. It seems to be happy in the garden but has not attempted to drastically outgrow its allotted space, which the roots might indicate it could do.
The flower stems carry two opposite leaves consisting of three spiny margined leaflets.
